Workshop Collaborative was tasked with designing distinct primary and guest areas connected by a central kitchen-living space, resulting in the creation of three contemporary cabins. Drawing inspiration from the archetype of a historic ranch, with its distinct functional zones, the architects designed each cabin as a standalone structure with its own entrance. With a total footprint of under 5,000 square feet, efficiency was a key priority. “They wanted a house that was functional for their family as well as their guests,” explains architect Kaness.
To optimize the layout, the architects meticulously walked the property, staking out each cabin’s location and making adjustments to ensure every room captured the best panoramic views. The west cabin houses the primary suite and an office, while the east wing accommodates guests with three en-suite bedrooms. At the heart of the design, the central cabin features the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Connecting these spaces, glass corridors seamlessly link the cabins, blending functionality with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
